Information about traffic jams is very demanded, but it's not always comfortable to listen to it on radio or search in the web before you go out of the house. So, the solution is to get information via mobile Internet while driving on your PND. Such services exist for a long time, but they work only in big cities and aren't free. No wonder: complicated work need to be done to observe traffic jams, such as cameras on the roads, analytical servers, etc. But there is another way.

If to gather and process all this information, we will see the traffic situation. Navitel.Traffic service is based on such principle. Every Navitel Navigator user can turn on Navitel.Traffic service and the data about traffic will start to exchange with server. The collected information will be shown on your device using the following colored lines:

• Red — traffic jam
• Pink — slow speed
• Yellow — normal speed
• Green — high speed

It is important that traffic information will be used while autorouting. The route, created using traffic information, may be a bit longer, but it will lead you through the least loaded streets. The optimal route takes into account maximum speed on different road segments and user settings - minimum time or minimum distance.

Traffic jams icon on the "Map" page can be three different colors: green (there is updated information about traffic jams on your device), yellow (information wasn’t updated after the set time interval) and red (there is some problem with data transfer). During data update the icon will be green with red arrow.

JSC "CNT" developers worked on the traffic data transfer and processing algorithm since the "Navitel" project has been started. It was a very complicated service with many ways to solve it. We assigned the following aims: high quality data processing on the server and user traffic minimization. Now all the problems are solved, so our users in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and other countries can get the high-quality traffic information with the minimum traffic. The results are perfect: many radio stations, Russian information channel "Russia-24" and a lot of Internet-portals are using our traffic information.
